Years ago a person would have an accident and if no major personal injury was inflicted or losses then an apology would have been enough. This is no longer the case and although many can benefit from the compensation claimed there are also those that are at a loss. The benefits and losses of today's claim culture are what I would like to speak to you about today.
There are circumstances where people should make a claim, especially when someone is at financial or personal loss through no fault of their own. This means that they are legally entitled to get what they are entitled to.
These are not the only people who are getting a payout though. It is those who are being dishonest and without the evidence to prove otherwise are managing to get what they feel is their share of wealth. However this is making the premiums for everyone a lot higher.
Not only do we all have to pay extra on insuring our cars or even houses. We are paying the price when we buy tickets and pay for any kind of admission to businesses where others have made claims against the insurance so that the businesses are able to make a profit despite the higher premiums.
This is something we do not think about when we complain that the cost of living has risen significantly even with inflation put into consideration. Although we expect prices to rise a little they are becoming ridiculous due to any slight accident (and for some) deliberate injury being a reason for an easy profit. The way things are going at present many of the places we enjoy will not be affordable so they will have to close.
Another problem of the claims is that there are lots of things that were once considered fun that are now out of bounds. If we do partake in anything with any kind of risk then it is more than likely we will have to sign forms to say that we take responsibility for our own actions only being able to claim if this was not the cause of our loss.
There is not much that you cannot get insured. Of course there are the legal reasons why we need things like car insurance and the rising crime rate making it important to cover valuables and the exterior of any property that we own to avoid the cost that come without notice should the weather cause damage to your home.
You will have also read in the paper about those who are famous for certain body parts and have made sure that if through accident they are injured they are able to claim what they would have earned from them. It is unlikely that this will be the case which is why the insurance companies are so willing to provide the insurance in the first place.
The fact there are so many losing their jobs it seems this is a way that people are heading towards to make sure they can make ends meet. Maybe the first claim is slightly exaggerated and may have started as innocently getting what is rightfully theirs. Once the money is in some people's hands they look for another opportunity to get more. Not everyone thinks like this but some do and this is what is making out entrance to the places that we all enjoy more expensive.
You can now see how what seems like an easy way out of debt or poverty is a way that can lead the whole world and future generations into a world where even the simplest pleasures seem like a world away.
